WHY FLASHCARDS DON'T WORK FOR FAMILY VOCABULARY
Most people try to learn family vocabulary with flashcards or word lists.
Of course, students ask: "What's the English word for 'cuñado'?" But a flashcard or a list can only give one fixed answer, and that is the problem. Look at the poster: each card shows one person with one word. In real life, the same person can have different family words at the same time. The same man can be a father, a brother, an uncle and a grandfather, depending on who is looking at him. A flashcard hides this, so it is not clear and it is not an efficient way to learn. Students memorize dozens of words, but they still freeze when they have to name a real relationship. To learn family vocabulary the right way, you need to see how people are connected. That's exactly what this tool helps you do.
HOW TO USE THIS INTERACTIVE FAMILY TREE
Forget memorizing long vocabulary lists. Instead, explore the family tree just like you would explore a real family. Click on any person in the tree. The selected person becomes YOU. Instantly, every other family member is renamed from that person's point of view.
For example, if you click on Emma:
- James may become my father.
- Olivia may become my grandmother.
- Noah may become my cousin.
- Sophia may become my niece.
Click someone else, and every relationship changes automatically.
